David C. Hohn, MD, is President Emeritus and Executive Director of Health Policy at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) in Buffalo, New York. He previously held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer at RPCI for ten years until June 2007. He is also Professor of Surgery at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University at Buffalo, The State University of New York.
Dr. Hohn received his medical degree from the University of Illinois School of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his internship at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago and his residency and fellowship at the University of California in San Francisco. He is board certified in surgery.
Dr. Hohn's accomplishments include implementation of an innovative managed care strategy that has broadly opened access to RPCI and of community partnerships to broaden the quality of cancer services to the residents of Western New York. Dr. Hohn continues his national leadership role in health policy issues. He is active in New York State cancer control initiatives and in the NCCN, and serves as a senior advisor to RPCI's President and CEO, Dr. Donald Trump.
Dr. Hohn has authored or co-authored more than 65 articles, abstracts, and books, appearing in publications such as the Journal of Clinical Oncology, New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the National Cancer Institute, and Cancer. He is a member of several medical societies, including the American College of Surgeons, the American Association for Cancer Research, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Hohn is a member, and immediate past-chairman, of the NCCN Board of Directors. He is also a member of the NCCN Executive Committee.
